Synopsis:Josh and Melissa are two disillusioned New York doctors whose relationship has hit a stale plateau. During a desperate "relationship retreat" backpacking trip, they cross a mysterious stone bridge and find themselves in Schmigadoon, a vibrant town where life is lived inside the tropes of Golden Age musicals like Oklahoma! and Carousel.
To their horror, they learn from the town’s eccentric residents that they are trapped behind the bridge until they experience a transformation of the heart. As they navigate "The Picnic Basket Auction," judgmental town councils, and a series of soaring patter songs, Josh and Melissa must decide if their love is worth fighting for—or if they’d rather take their chances with a local soprano or a rogue carnival barker. It is a hilarious, tuneful love letter (and a sharp parody) to the history of the American musical.
