Synopsis:
Based on the gritty true story and the legendary 1975 film, Dog Day Afternoon follows Sonny Amato (Jon Bernthal) during a desperate, botched bank robbery in a sweltering 1972 Brooklyn. What was supposed to be a quick ten-minute heist to fund a partner's surgery spirals into a high-stakes hostage standoff and a televised media circus.
Trapped inside with his anxious accomplice, Sal (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), Sonny becomes an unlikely folk hero as the police, the press, and a massive crowd gather outside. Adapted by Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Adly Guirgis, this 2026 production is a high-tension thriller that explores identity, celebrity, and the desperation of a city on the edge.
