Synopsis:
This is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats as you’ve never seen it before. Reimagined through the lens of New York City’s underground Ballroom culture, the Jellicle Ball is no longer a junkyard—it’s a competitive runway. In this radical revival, the "cats" are transformed into iconic figures of the ballroom scene, competing in categories like "Face," "Realness," and "Body" to see who will ascend to the Heaviside Layer.
Combining the classic score with breathtaking new choreography that blends jazz, ballet, and vogue, the production honors the queer and trans communities of color who birthed the ballroom movement. It’s a high-octane, fashion-forward celebration of identity and community that turns the Broadhurst Theatre into the ultimate late-night party.
This show offers unique On-Stage Seating! If you want to be inches away from the voguing and the "Ballroom" categories, you should look for "Stage" or "Runway" seating on the map. It’s a completely different experience than sitting in the balcony.
